War. War never changes. There is a legacy of heroes - the legendary international Cobra Unit of World War II, 'heroes' of the Allies under the greatest hero of the early 20th Century, the Boss, though defected to the Soviets and taken out by a lone American operative in the 60s. Big Boss, the same operative, the Boss's protege and a 'hero' in his own right, who averted nuclear war singlehandedly twice, the inaugural hero of the special forces FOX unit and the creator of the FOX-HOUND special forces to hunt down and exterminate FOX when his former unit went rogue themselves. Solid Snake, the 'hero' who destroyed Outer Heaven and ended Big Boss's betrayal of the world and his development of the final weapon, Metal Gear, and hunted the FOX-HOUND unit when it went rogue. And now, the rumors tell that Solid Snake has gone rogue himself. The people may be extraordinary, the weapon it all revolves around - Metal Gear, the mobile nuclear-equipped tank unit capable of launching across the world - may be terribly advanced, but the world is the same, and war is the same. And a hero is just a man.
