Theme Description

The world of The Last Blade-- set in Japan, during the Bakumatsu period-- blends a historical setting with mythological elements. That world had long ago sealed Death and all malevolent spirits behind the portal known as Hell's Gate; but of the four who were set to guard the portal, one fell to madness. The disruptions he engendered unstabilized that seal, and the Sealing Rite is needed again to close that Gate and bar the evil beyond it. To that end, the Sealing Maiden is sought, for only she and the Four Gods can close the portal: but other forces search for her also, in order to put an end to her and fully throw wide the Gate.
