Kamichu! Takes place in small town modern Japan in about the year 2004 or so. However Gods and spirits are real things that humans know exist and accept that they influence the world around them. While they do not feel any more or less inclined to pray to them, they tend to have no problem laying blame on the gods and spirits when things do not go their way.
