Connecting to GateMUSH
Connecting to GateMUSH is easy and painless. Just open up your favorite telnet client and point it to rpg-works.net, port 5301 then log in as a guest by typing in the string "connect guest guest".
Here are some Telnet client alternatives if you don't want to use the built in telnet that comes with your Windows OS or the Terminal program that comes with OS X.
Windows Telnet Clients
- BeipMU - A somewhat popular Windows program designed to help you make playing on a MU* that much easier and more fun. Check out the website for it's features. Best part? It's completely free.
- SimpleMU- This is perhaps the most popular MU* client currently being used by our playerbase. Unlike BeipMU, it's shareware but it has a lot of features that BeipMU does not.
- MUSHClient - Yet another MU* client. Like BeipMU, it's free and comes with some fairly advanced features. Check out the website to see if it's your cup of tea.
- Pueblo - For those of you who have been around for a while, a great deal of you may remember this old client. It has since then been resurrected and is now a freeware open source product. Check it out.
Mac OS X Clients
- Atlantis - Long story short, it's an OS X version of SimpleMU, but free. It is NOT, however, developed by the SimpleMU team. Check it out. This is the webmaintainer (IE The admin Friend Computer)'s client of choice.
- Savitar - A fairly popular MU* client for the OS X. Check out it's website for everything it can do. Be careful though, it is Shareware but if you like it, you should buy it.
Other Clients
- Trebuchet tk - A fairly simple MU* client that's a bit rough around the edges but does it's job well. It goes in it's own seperate category due to the fact that it is fairly cross-platform. It will work on any of the main OSes, Windows, Mac and most flavors of *nix.
